Bible Journey was created by Brad Miller and his wife Sheri Carmon Miller following a highly successful, whole-church Bible reading program at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. Brad & Sheri were asked to lead this program, called Join the Journey, using the Daily Walk Bible© published by Walk Thru the Bible Ministries in Atlanta, GA.
The program began in the fall of 2006 when Faith Evangelical Free Church leadership made a commitment to encourage the entire congregation to read through the entire Bible starting January 1, 2007 and commencing on December 31, 2007. The program results were outstanding! The entire congregation enthusiastically engaged in the effort. Nearly 3,000 Daily Walk Bible© copies were purchased as participants also engaged other friends, relatives and associates to Join the Journey. Participants regularly spoke to one another about the contents of recent daily Bible readings thereby further enhancing the experience and increasing their Bible knowledge. Simply knowing that the entire congregation was engaged served to help all ‘stay the course’. Evidence of the impact of the program was clear in December 2007 when Church leadership challenged the congregation to donate funds to help purchase Bibles for the Moba tribe in the Congo in central Africa. The congregation responded with almost $30,000 in contributions! This was nearly what they had spent themselves on their Daily Walk Bible© for the Church reading program.
Bottom line: PRAISE THE LORD!
Because this program was so successful, Brad & Sheri embarked upon a personal, not-for-profit Ministry to replicate this event in other Churches. Using their experience and tools they created for Faith Evangelical Free Church, they began to engage other Churches to do the same. To date, Churches in Colorado, Indiana, Nebraska and South Dakota have participated in similar events and additional Churches in Iowa and Minnesota are considering programs.
