Bible Journey is all about Joining the Journey! It is a life-long spiritual pursuit with Jesus Christ as the guide. As the preamble of the Gideon Bible states "Christ is its grand subject". The Bible is God's way of speaking to us and prayer is our way of speaking to Him. Regular communion with God is our objective. The term communion is an especially close relationship of Christians [as individuals, groups or as a Church] with God and with other Christians. Spending time daily in scripture is what Bible Journeyis all about. Contained here are some thoughts on this pursuit for Individuals, Small Groups and entire Churches.
This may be the most challenging pursuit! Why? Because in Ecclesiastes 4:10 the Bible says: "If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up." The point here is that people need people. It is best to have an 'accountability partner' on your Journey. Each person can help the another to 'stay the course'. Consider finding a like-minded friend or relative to Journey with you but, above all, Join the Journey! Our experience suggests that the Daily Walk Bible© is a excellent companion with or without an accountability partner!
This may be the most rewarding pursuit! Small Groups afford the luxury of accountability and synergy. Accountability is inherent in the Small Group as each member participates with others in the Journey. Additionally, Small Groups naturally exhibit synergy. As natural discussions of scripture ensue, each individual contributes their thoughts and experiences thereby enhancing the spiritual growth of all. Our experience suggests that the Daily Walk Bible© is a excellent companion here due to the daily commentaries and discussion questions contained in that publication.
This may be the most exciting pursuit because it has the advantage of reaching the most individuals AND affords a biblical way of achieving Church unity. Further, it motivates the entire congregation around a common goal: Reading the entire Bible together, in 'lock-step' in one year. Individuals and Small Groups have a common focus, purpose and direction. Sermon topics can be well-defined and comprehensive by covering all books of the Bible. Our experience suggests that the Daily Walk Bible© is an excellent companion here because it promotes not only scripture itself but also the application of scripture to our individual, group and church lives as well.
